The journey continues onward. No more preparations and catching up with familiar faces. It’s time to face the worst foe of all. The time restraints of game development.
Looking over my inventory, I’ve discovered that the Gold-Hemmed Black Cloak is actually much better than any other chest gear I have – although, I suppose a slight argument could perhaps be made for the Crimson Robe. I thought about equipping the Crimson Waistcloth or the Black Skirt, but… I don’t want to go bare feet. I’ll sacrifice the stat gains any day. I’m sticking to my Black Leather Boots.
It would appear the demons do not respawn… that’s good.
One embarrassing cliff death after and… what the hell is that down there?
It makes me want to shiver… looks like some sort of giant bug. These Capra Demons are annoying. All lined up and they won’t take my bait. This isn’t even difficult. Just frustrating.
I finally made it to the other side… and I saw it. The centipede.
I didn’t want to go near it at all. I used up all the bolts and arrows I had that weren’t the 100 I purchased earlier. I’m sure I’ll have to challenge them directly soon… but I’m happy to put it off for now. Found another bonfire, but… there’s something down below, clinging to the side of a wall here.
Looks like a giant creature to me, but one could also assume it’s just a bunch of bones sticking out. But I don’t trust Dark Souls. And it looks like a giant insect.
Checked my inventory to examine my Black Eye Orb… it seems I can use this to attack Lautrec later. I can’t use it yet, so I’ll probably get given an indicator later in the future.
Not much else to note except that the statue enemies are just. Strange. They certainly exist.
ANOTHER CENTIPEDE. I HAVE TO DO THIS. I HAVE TO DO THIS.
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO EVEN HIT THAT THING?
IT JUST EATS YOU? WHAT? NO, NO, NO.
Okay. Arrow strategy it is.
Wait, no… there’s a spot right above it. A plunging attack? Let’s try this…
The plunge absolutely does not connect, but I managed to kill it. I never want to do this again.
I’m going to have to do this again, aren’t I? At least I got my Green Titanite Shards… finally. Just fooling around in this one spot has given me two level ups… good grief.
THE CENTIPEDE RESPAWNS? WHY?
This seems like an excellent spot to grind out some levels, though. Yet, I am sure there will be a better one later… I killed it, I really can’t tell if the plunge connects or not, but two seem to work.
GODDAMNIT NOT ANOTHER CENTIPEDE EEEUEUUGHGH
STOP CHEWING ON ME
I killed it. No more, please. God, please.
FOUR OF THEM?
After spending numerous deaths along the way, I’ve decided that rushing to the chest after the centipedes is a far better idea. They are, for the most part, stationary. Got myself a Large Flame Ember… worth the trip, but how will I get back without using a Homeward Bone? I suppose I don’t necessarily need to, but…
It’s too much of a hassle… this is incredibly annoying. I’ll just use one. Screw it. If the place wants to be like this, I won’t give it a fair shake. I’ll just use up the souls I picked up along the way before I enter the… “brilliant light”… yeah, right…
Huh. Sealed by the great lord’s power? Excuse me? After all that?
Fine, fine. I’ll go to Sen’s Fortress.
After another nap at the Chaos Covenant.
I left the Demon Ruins in pursuit of this lord vessel thing, but not before collecting the Chaos Flame Ember and a soul item. One of them more or less required that I die with my current gear, but hey – I wasn’t going to lose anything. I was just going to respawn. Normally, I would respect the level design, but this map doesn’t respect me, so I won’t respect it. I am getting that loot right away.
I also picked up the Wolf Ring that I missed on my first trek through the Darkroot Garden. All that’s left is to finally tackle the fortress…
Finally, I’ve returned.
What the hell are these creatures? Serpentmen? Is that it?
Found another soul item. It gave me enough for one level up, so I went back to the bonfire for a bit.
The magic attacks are giving a slightly rough time… but it’s not too bad if I close the distance quickly. The rolling ball caught me off-guard, but never again. I’m sure I jinxed myself by writing that down…
This fellow here is just relaxing on the wall… I’ll leave them be for now. Don’t make me regret this, friend.
Got myself this Shotel. Hey… is that onion friend?
Poor guy. He simply can’t make it past the obstacle course.
I knew I couldn’t trust that chest… I see I made the right choice to attack it.
Poor fool couldn’t avoid getting hit by a ball, so he decided to come up and attack me and… fell into the pit.
I am dying a fair bit myself, though. I’m starting to feel a little lost… but surely this place is more linear than it seems at first glance.
Found a sorcerer fellow named Logan. After Lautrec I am doubting everyone I meet. I only trust Solaire! But still, I’m going to try and free him. What’s the worst that could happen? Hahaha…
Don’t disappoint me.
The top of the elevator is spiked!? That’s awful…
Oh, a ring that increases item drop rate… I love these kind of items… yes, thank you very much, I’ll be putting this to good use in the future.
I am starting to think buying those extremely cheap drop distance testing items might have been a good idea… too late now.
Oh, I see… this was the guy making those balls come rolling down.
There’s another guy up above making the area ahead burst in flames. Already got surprised by him once. Going to be careful from now on. This place is huge… when does it stop?
Rest in peace, Ricard. Nothing personal.
Met a real optimist, doing his best to encourage me to complete my journey. I’ve never met a companion like him in my life and I hope to meet more others like him.
This was entirely sarcasm. I appreciate him for acting as a shop, at least. I can buy Large and Green Titanite Shards off him… I’ll remember you for later. I could cosplay as Onionbro too! There was a cage key in the location underneath him, so I suppose I’ll be rescuing Logan using this.
Just killed the giant prick that kept lobbing those bombs. Bye.
I beat the Iron Golem boss, but…
WHY AM I GETTING CARRIED OFF I WASN’T READY FOR THIS STOP NO STOP
YES THANK YOU TAKE ME BACK I DON’T WANT ANOR LONDO JUST YET
That Iron Golem looked extremely tough… but I suppose its size worked to its detriment, because that boss wasn’t a challenge at all. Honestly, I’m kind of relieved after the long climb.
Of course, I immediately screw up by losing all my 60000 souls. Classic me.
Found some demons to kill, though! Got their demon titanites and… oh, is that a scythe I see!?
After much foolishness, I finally freed Logan, then made it back to Anor Londo. I even made back half the souls I lost! Hahhh…
This fellow seems familiar… Hmm. Ornstein…?
This place is huge. Let’s explore it another day…
